It’s a Wrap – What We Learned at TechKNOW 2020.

2 Minute Read

It was a meeting of the tech-minds last month at the stunning Old Forester’s Paristown Hall in Louisville. The second TechKNOW – the technology summit Matrix Integration hosts every two years – brought together nearly 200 attendees from Indiana and Kentucky businesses, leading technology partners and key members of the community to collaborate, innovate and learn from each other.

Who was there?

Indiana and Kentucky’s IT leaders in finance, education, manufacturing, and utilities, along with representatives from companies including Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, Veeam, Barracuda, Scale Computing, Sophos, Valimail, Level Up Development, and Vista Communications.

Attendees included:

  • Brenda Stallings, Founder & CEO of Matrix Integration, and a pioneer in technology
  • Nathan Stallings, President, Matrix Integration
  • Meechelle Parker, Great Lakes Women’s Business Council
  • Wendy Dixie, Chief Information Officer, Kentucky State University
  • Sheila Mixon, Women’s Business Enterprise Council – Ohio River Valley
  • Eric Powers, Keynote Speaker, Channel Technical Architect, Ohio Valley/Hewlett Packard Enterprise
  • Charles Helms, Member Relations, Kentucky Association of Manufacturers
  • Phillip Ross, Cyber/Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, Kentucky Office of Homeland Security

Key takeaways

The keynote, information sessions and networking events focused on innovation and inclusion. Speaker Eric Powers from Hewlett Packard Enterprise talked about how we’re living – right now – in the Golden Age of IT – the new Roaring (20)20s. Phillip Ross, from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, gave participants an inside look at our nation’s approach to security and how we can apply the same lessons to corporate entities.

A high-power panel comprised of Wendie Dixie (CIO, Kentucky State University), Brenda Stallings (CEO, Matrix Integration), Meechelle Parker (Great Lakes Women’s Business Council) and Condrad Daniels (President, HJI Supply Chain Solutions) discussed the advantages and opportunities that can only be realized with a diverse workforce. Daniels was quoted in Louisville Business First about being proactive in hiring. “Good faith is absolutely wonderful, but like everything else, measure what you treasure,” he said. “I think when we start to put numbers to these things, that’s true intentionality.”

Rob Wildman, VP of Professional Services, Matrix Integration, led a timely panel about the subscription culture we live in and how to leverage it for your company. In addition, an infrastructure panel, led by Mike Meyer, Solutions Architect at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, provided guests with insight into why most infrastructures are under construction and how to best manage this at your company.

There was some fun, too

Music from V-Groove and an after-event Mardi Gras party helped keep energy high. There was also a video board that slowly built an image over the course of the day – every time someone used the hashtag #didyoutechknow on social media, the photo added to a giant mosaic. If you weren’t able to stay until the end, the photo is in this post. A baby with VR goggles – a potential future vision of how technology today will change the world.
