Spalding University.

Spalding University is a private, higher education institution spanning 11 buildings and 24 acres in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. When Network Administrator Dennis Tyler announced his retirement, the IT team needed to replace his years of experience, as well as plan for the training and onboarding of a new employee.

Spalding University wanted to hire and train a junior replacement for Tyler to save costs and build their IT team with new talent. The university worked closely with Matrix Integration to determine the best way to manage the network infrastructure during the transition.

Together, Matrix Integration and the university drafted a prepaid support contract that defined deliverables, as well as a regular communication schedule. The agreement ensured that the network would be continuously optimized, allowing Spalding’s IT team and leaders to focus on supporting teaching and learning at the university. In addition, the agreement stipulated that Matrix Integration would proactively consult with the IT team about the university’s challenges, as well as provide solutions and future recommendations.

Today, members of the Matrix Integration team continue to work with Spalding as a steady component of the IT team. In addition to supporting and strengthening Spalding’s IT services, the university estimates that Matrix Integration has been able to perform high-level network administration work for 50 to 90 percent less than the cost of a full-time salaried employee.

Additionally, the broad experience and knowledge of the Matrix Integration team have helped free up IT staff members for other projects, as well as provide guidance to new and current employees about anything from troubleshooting to future planning and strategy.
